{Premarin®
For 60 years, women have trusted PREMARIN® (conjugated estrogens
tablets, USP) 0.625 mg for the treatment of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms,
such as hot flashes and night sweats, associated with menopause. PREMARIN is also
indicated for the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis as well as for the
treatment of vaginal dryness. PREMARIN contains a complex blend of natural estrogens.
Estrogen replacement therapy (ERT) is usually prescribed for women who have had
a hysterectomy (surgical removal of the uterus). Some women have a hysterectomy
that includes removal of the ovaries, which causes immediate loss of estrogen.
This is known as surgical menopause. With surgical menopause, symptoms can be
sudden and range from mild to severe. PREMARIN provides relief from hot
flashes and night sweats, often within a few weeks. When night sweats are relieved,
you may awaken less often. PREMARIN also helps relieve symptoms of vaginal dryness,
restoring thickness and lubrication to the vaginal lining. This, in turn, reduces
discomfort during and after sexual intercourse.
PREMARIN helps prevent postmenopausal
osteoporosis by keeping bones stronger, which means they are less likely to break.
In fact, PREMARIN can reduce osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip and wrist
